Paola Borganti
and Giulio Giurato got their piano degree in 1986 at the Conservatories
of Music in Ferrara and Bologna.
They had the opportunity
to specialize with great musicians such as Jörg Demus, Alexander Lonquich
and Sergio Perticaroli in outstanding foundations. They trained as a piano
duet with Giovanna Musiani and Boris Bekhterev and attended specialized
classes held by Bruno Canino and Antonio Ballista.
They got several
prizes both as solist and in many chamber music ensembles and in 1995 they
got prize at National Piano Competition “Riviera della Versilia” and at
International Competition “Citta' di Lodi”.
The claimed “Schubertiadi”,
performed at Quartet Society of Vicenza, Bologna University and at the
Pinacoteca Nazionale of Bologna, is a successful example of the cooperation,
started in 1996 between Giulio Giurato and Jörg Demus, that inspired
the duo Borganti – Giurato.
Appreciated teachers
at music secondary school and at music academy, Paola Borganti and Giulio
Giurato have successful been playing together for almost 25 years, performing
in the most known Italian towns, and particularly playing French composers
and classical Austrian/German piano four-hands repertoire (such as Mozart,
Schubert, Mendelssohn and Brahms), masterpieces such as Schubert’s Fantasy
in F minor, Ravel’s Ma Mere l’Oye, Rachmaninov’s Six Pieces op. 11, Gershwin’s
Cuban Ouverture and Rhapsody in Blue.
This world premiere
recording about four-hands original and transcribed music by Marco Enrico
Bossi uses printed first editions and unpublished manuscripts, reviewed

Dedicated to George Gershwin
Amazing
and inexhaustible pianist, clever composer (self-taught man from experience)
influenced by the kaleidoscope of cultures and races in New York in early
‘900, George Gershwin is without dubt one of the most important musicians
of America and of all musical learned outline of the XXth century.
The
sweeping success who made him a multi-millionaire at not even thirthy years
old didn’t stop him to search a personal style that walks across symphonic
music (the half-jazz little orchestra of Rhapsody in Blue and the big orchestra
of Concert in F and An American in Paris), through the many inspired and
famous Songs (annualy performed in historical musicals) til his masterpiece
Porgy and Bess, the folk-opera that opened a new and unique way of writing
music, soon interrupted by the serious disease that prematurely broke off
his life at only 39. George Gershwin is one of the most loved musicians
still today, in smoky pubs and in Concert Halls, one of the very few who
approaches both jazz and classical music lovers.
This
contamination probably is the fascination of his art.

But not for me,
Lady be good,
Embraceable you,
They can’t take
that away from me,
Someone to watch
over me,
The man I love,
I got Rhythm,
Summertime.
